Shakedown and Memorial Day Cruises – Weather – 2, NC3 – 0

Weather Not Playing Nice
TideChaser was host to the Shakedown and the Memorial Day Cruises. High winds for the Shakedown were a little too much for sailing and also caused low water as water was blown out of some marinas, so it was another weekend for catching up on boat projects. On Saturday afternoon some of us got together for an impromptu happy hour on TideChaser. It was wonderful to actually be in the cockpit, knee to knee and face to face after a year of social distancing.
A few weeks later, we had ten boats registered and ready to sail on the Memorial Day Cruise, but unfortunately, we had too much water in the form of rain. Both Saturday and Sunday were very soggy and dreary. On Saturday, making the best of it, we all met at Cutter for happy hour. Do you notice a theme? Even when there is no sailing, NC3 will still make happy hour happen. Once again it was a good feeling to be with others in the fleet and not just interacting on a Zoom meeting.
On Monday the sun finally peeked out and the wind gods cut us a break. Several boats including First Light, Adventure, Afternoon Delight, Saranac, Scadger and Endeavour got out for a lovely sail. So, at least the Memorial Day Cruise ended on a high note.
We are looking forward to the June Summer Weeklong. If you have not registered you should go to the website and register now. It sounds like a great cruise.
