Last Rites of Summer Weeklong

LROS CRUISE 9/28 – 10/05
SAT 9/28 TO WORTON – From Middle River, or your home port, head out to Worton at 9 AM, 11NM.
Destination Worton Creek Marina. A leisurely sail will get you there in time for a nap before the fun
begins. Cocktails on the hill at 5PM. Dinner will be after cocktails with us supplying burgers, dogs, and
more. You bring a side, and as always, your choice of drink. After dinner we will have a round of “Team
Sailing Trivia” with the chance to win BIG MONEY! Remember, evenings on the hill in late September
can be cold, so dress accordingly.

SUN 9/29 TO ANNOPOLIS – Head out at 9AM for Annapolis, this will be the longest passage of the
cruise, 29 NM. In Annapolis, grab a mooring ball, pick a marina or an anchorage. Dinner on your own.
The water taxis will be running, so access to downtown for a late-night dessert, coffee, or maybe even
a cocktail or two since Monday will not require an early start.

MON 9/30 IN ANNAPOLIS–Have breakfast on your boat or hook up with friends for a visit to the many
eateries in Annapolis. At 1PM we will tour the Naval Academy’s Museum in Preble Hall. It is incredible!
This will leave time to explore the city before dinner. Dinner will be as a group at a restaurant to be
determined.

TUES 10/1 TO ST MICHAELS – Head out at 9AM for SM’s, 27 NM. Depending on the weather
conditions, this day could be an option for the annual LROS MATCH RACE! If conditions are good, we
will pick a spot south of Annapolis to start, head south then east into the Eastern Bay at Bloody Point,
then race to a point at the NE Tip of the Eastern Bay. After completion, head up to St. Michaels, take a
slip, or anchor. Dinner on your own.

WED 10/02 ON TO WYE ISLAND OR SPEND THE DAY EXPLORING ST MICHAELS
(OPTION 1) Head on to the Wye, take an anchor, 4.5 NM. We will explore the island and its trail
system. Many anchorages can handle several boats, to be determined later depending on weather
conditions. There is a section on the SW Tip of the island that contains the Tunnel of Trees, very cool!
After a thorough exploration we will return to the boats for cocktails and then dinner on your own.
(OPTION 2) – If exploring the island is not for you, stay in St Michaels, after a late breakfast you can
explore The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s New Welcome Center, it is worth a look. Or if you
are feeling lazy, just blow off the afternoon and explore the city. Leave in time to find and anchorage on
the Wye, as you rejoin the fleet for cocktails, 4.5 NM. Dinner on your own.

THUR 10/03 TO RHODE RIVER – Head to the Rhode River, 22NM. We will anchor in Sheep’s Head
Bay, near the Big Island. Depending on the weather conditions, this day could be an option for the
annual LROS MATCH RACE! If conditions are good, we will pick a spot at the upper end of the
Eastern Bay to start, sail down the Eastern Bay, around Bloody Point, and finish at the mouth of the
Rhode. Last night for dinner on your own.

FRI 10/04 TO ROCK HALL – Depart the Rhode at 9 AM, head NE under the Bay Bridge and continue
to Rock Hall. 23 NM. Pick a slip, mooring ball or anchorage. Dinner will be together at the Blue Heron.

SAT 10/05 HOME – Depart Rock Hall at 9 AM, head home. 22NM.
