SUMMARY:Full Moon Scavenger Hunt Cruise Oct 18 - Oct 19
DESCRIPTION:We will sail to Swan Creek and throughout the day there will be a scavenger hunt with BIG\, BIG prizes for the first\, second and third place winners. You can get a slip at Swan Creek Marina\, pick up a mooring ball there or anchor in the creek. We will meet at the picnic area in the marina at 4:00PM for Happy Hour. Bring your own drink and an appetizer to share. Don’t forget to bring your scavenger hunt results along with your proof. More information and rules below. \nWe will ooh and aah at the full moon later that night\, as no one really wants to sail around crab pots in the near dark. \nEach boat will be provided with a list of items that can typically be found in marinas or out on the water. Each item will have points associated with it. Proof that you found an item must in the form of an image on your phone/camera. \nSince we are not all at the same marina the list will be provided by email a day or two before so you can print it out and check off items as you find and photograph them. All images must be taken on the day of the event. \nDuring Happy Hour you will be randomly paired with another boat to check and tally each other’s results. \nThe Scavenger Hunt will begin on October 18 at 8:00AM and end with Happy Hour at 4:00PM. All photos must be taken within that time frame. \nMay the best eagle eyes win. \n\nRegistrations are closed for this event \n \nNot yet a member? All the meat\, buns and condiments will be supplied by the club\, we ask each boat to bring one side to complete the dinner.  As usual bring your preferred drink. \nSun Sept 28 – Sail south from RH to Chesapeake Yacht Club(23KM) on South Creek\, just off the West River.  Grab a slip at the club taking advantage of a special rate provided to all CBCYA members. CYC will offer us a dinner special\, with 2-main course options\, and a free glass of wine.  Anchoring on South Creek is an option\, still exploring dingy dock availability. \nMon Sept 29 – From CYC cross the bay and enter the Choptank River heading to Oxford on the Tred Avon River(23KM).  Grab a slip at Safe Harbor South. Eat on board. A list of open restaurants will be supplied if you want to hook up with members that want to eat out. \nTues Sept 30 – Rest day in Oxford. Sleep in\, go for a walk\, take a bike ride\, or just plain do nothing as you mentally prepare for the big race day coming up tomorrow.  Dinner on your own.  All boats racing on Wed must attend the Pre-Race Captains Meeting.  All captains must research their PHRF rating and get it to me in advance so we can agree on fair numbers for each boat.  See attached list to get you started.  PHRF INFO HERE! \nWed Oct 1 – IT’S RACE DAY! There is a really nice trophy on the line!! Sail up the Choptank River towards Cambridge(12KM)\, if you dare to race\, stop short at the Cambridge Sailboat Racecourse\, just before you get to the city.  Be there by 11:30 for a 12 noon start. The race will be 2-4 laps around the course depending on wind conditions.  After the race head to the Cambridge Yacht Club and grab a slip.  Cocktails will be at the Tiki Bar with dinner to follow at the club in a private room.  After dinner we will honor the winner and present the trophy! \nThur Oct 2 –Sail down the Choptank across the bay to the Rhode River and then north to Sheep’s Head Bay(32KM).  Anchor in front of the “Big Island”\, be careful of the submerged Island on the approach\, pay strict attention to the channel markers.  Dinner on board. \nFri Oct 3 – Sail north under the Bay Bridge\, then NW to the Magothy River (23KM). Cocktails on Sail Away\, then dinner on your own. \nSat Oct 4 – Sail to your home port. \n  \n\nRegistrations are closed for this event \n \nNot yet a member? SUMMARY:UCS Boaters Boat Show / Sept 5 - Sept 7
DESCRIPTION:UCS Boaters Boat Show \nSept 5 – Sept 7 \nCruise to the beautiful Lighthouse Point Marina\, on the Patapsco\, in the heart of Baltimore.  Participate in the Show & Tell Boat Show. See many great boats and some really spectacular boat projects\, complete and in progress. \nThe Boaters Boat Show is not your typical showroom floor packed with gleaming\, untouched vessels waiting for a buyer—it’s something far more authentic\, more soulful. This is a show dedicated to the heart and soul of cruising classics—boats with stories\, with character\, with salt in their wood and wisdom in their wakes. These are boats that have been lived in\, loved\, and customized by their owners over years of adventure.\n\nHere\, it’s not about price tags or spec sheets. It’s about conversation. It’s about pulling up alongside a seasoned captain and asking\, “What made you fall in love with this boat?” It’s about hearing what they’ve added\, modified\, reinforced\, or simply endured—because that’s what cruising is really about. You’ll find everything from clever DIY upgrades to finely tuned systems that reflect thousands of miles of experience.\n\nThis show celebrates the bond between boater and boat. The quirks\, the triumphs\, the annoyances\, the “I wish I knew that before” moments. Whether it’s a classic trawler\, a salty ketch\, or a battle-hardened liveaboard\, every boat here is a piece of living maritime history—and every owner is a chapter in that story.\n\nCome for the boats. Stay for the stories. This is the Boaters Boat Show: where passion floats.\n\nSeptember 5th thru the 7th\n\nRegistrations are closed for this event \n \nNot yet a member? SUMMARY:Worton Cruise & Lands Point Winery - July 12- July 13
DESCRIPTION:Saturday- The cruise will start with a sail to Worton Creek on Saturday\, July 12th.  Members can either stay at Worton Marina or anchor inside the creek or outside (for cooler breeze). Those at anchor could dingy in\, or Optimystic would act as a water taxis (both ways of course 😎). In July 2024\, the marina owner John told me that he had a chef lined up to reopen the restaurant there for the 2025 season. Depending on the decision of the cruisers\, we could either have Saturday dinner there\, or BYOF and BYOB in the picnic grove. \nSunday- at Lands Point winery. Time TBD. 12 noon?  Optimystic has had many enjoyable trips here taking our friends and family who thoroughly enjoy the experience. You are welcome to dingy/kayak in as they have only one slip. Again Optimystic can be the water taxi.    Saturday tastings are public (and limited to groups of 8) but if preferred\, the group could request a private tasting on Sunday (need a minimum of 15) This will still allow time to sail home Sunday afternoon or members can stay an additional night for a Monday sail. \n\nAPRIL UPDATE:  The private booking on Sunday does have a fee of $25.00 per person which includes a Flight of Wine (normally $12.00 on public days). Eileen and Dave are not typical winery persons. They will give a 3-5 minute presentation of their wines and let you choose what you would like. I usually start out with a flight of 4 wines\, then have another glass of my preferred. Of course\, they would hope you take a bottle or two. But the setting is conducive to enjoying the scenery while sipping wine. They also have snacks. Mindful that this is a husband-and-wife team\, they want to ensure everyone has a great experience. They do not give you a hard sell. In the event of inclement weather\, there is indoor seating with a great screened in porch. \n \n\n\n\nRegistrations are closed for this event \n \nNot yet a member? SUMMARY:SUMMER SOLSTICE - June 21- June 29
DESCRIPTION:The Summer Solstice Cruise has a nice mix of favorites\, and a couple of new / seldom visited destinations as well!  Almost every stop has the option of taking a slip at a marina or anchoring out.  Our first destination is Maryland Yacht Club\, or anchoring in the creek.  There’s a very nice restaurant within walking distance at Fairview Marina.  We’ll then head to Rhode River to anchor Sunday evening.  Last time we were there\, dolphins were spotted at the mouth of the river!  We’ll then head to Herrington Harbor South\, always a great resort destination.  For Tuesday and Wednesday we’ll head across the Bay to St. Michaels and stay an extra evening\, and perhaps visit a couple of wine tasting rooms.  Thursday we’ll anchor in Cox Creek in yet another try at visiting Casica Vineyards – the last attempt in 2023 we were smoked out by the fires in Canada.  Friday we’ll head to Haven Harbor North or anchor in Swan Creek.  Saturday Halcyon will head home\, and of course other boats are welcome to extend the cruise another day.  We hope you can join us for the week! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDay / Date\nDestination\nPhone\nNM\nh:m\nNotes\n\n\nSaturday\, June 21\, 2025\nMaryland Yacht Club\n(410) 255-4444\n12.9\n2:17\nOr anchor\n\n\nSunday\, June 22\, 2025\nRhode River\nN/A\n28.3\n4:46\nAnchor\n\n\nMonday\, June 23\, 2025\nHerrington Harbour South\n(410) 741-5100 / CH 16\n14.8\n2:30\n\n\n\nTuesday\, June 24\, 2025\nSt. Michaels Marina\n(410) 745-2400 / CH 16\n22.9\n3:51\nOr anchor\n\n\nWednesday\, June 25\, 2025\nSt. Michaels Marina\n(410) 745-2400 / CH 16\n–\n–\nOr anchor\n\n\nThursday\, June 26\, 2025\nCox Creek / Casica Vineyards\n(410) 604-2127\n13.6\n2:28\nAnchor\, visit winery\,\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nlive band 7-9\n\n\nFriday\, June 27\, 2025\nSwan Creek / Haven Harbor North\n(410) 778-6697 / CH 16\n24.8\n4:30\nOr anchor\n\n\nSaturday\, June 28\, 2025\nHome\n\n15.5\n2:43\n\n\n\n\n  \n\nRegistrations are closed for this event \n \nNot yet a member? SUMMARY:Cruise to Annapolis and tour of Thomas Point Lighthouse - June 7 - June 9
DESCRIPTION:The NC3 will visit Annapolis again in June 2025 with a private tour of the Thomas Point Light house and an evening at the at the Annapolis Summer Garden Theater. On Saturday evening June 7th\, the Annapolis Summer Garden Theater will be showing the comedy “Disaster” (hopefully not an omen for the cruise). Those interested can join us at the show on Saturday evening at 8:30 pm (tickets are $30 pp). On Sunday morning we will have a private tour of the Thomas Point Lighthouse. The tour will depart from the Annapolis Maritime Museum in Eastport (on Back Creek). We will travel in their boat\, not our own\, to the lighthouse. Boat travel time is 30 min each way and the lighthouse tour will be about 90 minutes for a total dock to dock time of 2 1/2 hrs. The tour will cost $90 per person. \nApril UPDATE:  The cruise currently has 14 registered and the maximum is 16!  If the tour is cancelled due to the weather\, everyone gets a full refund. If there is enough demand\, we can schedule a second tour of the lighthouse on Sunday afternoon. There are currently slips available at Annapolis City Marina\, just on the Eastport side of the drawbridge to Annapolis\, but cruisers can stay at a mooring ball or the marina of their choice. If you call the marina\, mention NC3 so they keep folks near one another.\nSailing plan is to arrive in Annapolis on Saturday afternoon with a potential overnight stop in the Magothy River on Friday night to break up the trip to Annapolis. For members returning home Sunday\, the lighthouse tour will end before lunch allowing time to sail home in the afternoon. Those staying over Sunday night will depart back for home on Monday morning. I plan to stay in Annapolis City Marina\, just on the Eastport side of the drawbridge to Annapolis\, but cruisers can stay at a mooring ball or the marina of their choice. SUMMARY:Memorial Day Cruise - May 24- May 26
DESCRIPTION:Memorial Day Cruise – May 24-26 \nMemorial Day Dingy cruise has been changed from the Gunpowder to Swan Creek in Rock Hall!   \nWe will leave on the 24th around 10 AM and sail south to Rock Hall and enter Swan Creek.  The choice is yours for either dropping the hook or taking a slip.  I would recommend Swan Creek Marina as you can get a mooring or a slip.  Call 410-639-7813.   They offer dingy tie up as well to get onto land.  Mooring is $40 dollars a night and slips are $3.00/ft and 8 dollars electric. \nWeather permitting\, we will do a raft up for happy hour around 4 pm.   If the weather is not permitting\, we will take a walk into town and try to find some ice cream.   Dinner is on your own.     Around 8 pm we get together on the dingys and have a toast to the sunset.   Sunset is at 8:14 PM. \nSunday breakfast is on your own.  At 10 AM we will take the dingys and explore the far reaches of Swan and Tavern Creeks.  Bring some snacks and drinks\, suntan lotion and a handheld radio if you have one. It could be a 3-hour tour! We will go as long as we want.   Back to the boats\, it will be afternoon nap time.  Dinner is your own but I recommend Blue Heron Oyster House. It’s a 10 min walk from Swan Creek Marina.  It will be crowded\, and I think its first come first serve but they have outdoor seating. \nMonday we will wake up and around 9 am head back to our home base. \n\nRegistrations are closed for this event \n \nNot yet a member? SUMMARY:Last Rites of Summer Weeklong
DESCRIPTION:Last Rites of Summer Weeklong \nLROS CRUISE 9/28 – 10/05\nSAT 9/28 TO WORTON – From Middle River\, or your home port\, head out to Worton at 9 AM\, 11NM.\nDestination Worton Creek Marina. A leisurely sail will get you there in time for a nap before the fun\nbegins. Cocktails on the hill at 5PM. Dinner will be after cocktails with us supplying burgers\, dogs\, and\nmore. You bring a side\, and as always\, your choice of drink. After dinner we will have a round of “Team\nSailing Trivia” with the chance to win BIG MONEY! Remember\, evenings on the hill in late September\ncan be cold\, so dress accordingly. \nSUN 9/29 TO ANNOPOLIS – Head out at 9AM for Annapolis\, this will be the longest passage of the\ncruise\, 29 NM. In Annapolis\, grab a mooring ball\, pick a marina or an anchorage. Dinner on your own.\nThe water taxis will be running\, so access to downtown for a late-night dessert\, coffee\, or maybe even\na cocktail or two since Monday will not require an early start. \nMON 9/30 IN ANNAPOLIS–Have breakfast on your boat or hook up with friends for a visit to the many\neateries in Annapolis. At 1PM we will tour the Naval Academy’s Museum in Preble Hall. It is incredible!\nThis will leave time to explore the city before dinner. Dinner will be as a group at a restaurant to be\ndetermined. \nTUES 10/1 TO ST MICHAELS – Head out at 9AM for SM’s\, 27 NM. Depending on the weather\nconditions\, this day could be an option for the annual LROS MATCH RACE! If conditions are good\, we\nwill pick a spot south of Annapolis to start\, head south then east into the Eastern Bay at Bloody Point\,\nthen race to a point at the NE Tip of the Eastern Bay. After completion\, head up to St. Michaels\, take a\nslip\, or anchor. Dinner on your own. \nWED 10/02 ON TO WYE ISLAND OR SPEND THE DAY EXPLORING ST MICHAELS\n(OPTION 1) Head on to the Wye\, take an anchor\, 4.5 NM. We will explore the island and its trail\nsystem. Many anchorages can handle several boats\, to be determined later depending on weather\nconditions. There is a section on the SW Tip of the island that contains the Tunnel of Trees\, very cool!\nAfter a thorough exploration we will return to the boats for cocktails and then dinner on your own.\n(OPTION 2) – If exploring the island is not for you\, stay in St Michaels\, after a late breakfast you can\nexplore The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s New Welcome Center\, it is worth a look. Or if you\nare feeling lazy\, just blow off the afternoon and explore the city. Leave in time to find and anchorage on\nthe Wye\, as you rejoin the fleet for cocktails\, 4.5 NM. Dinner on your own. \nTHUR 10/03 TO RHODE RIVER – Head to the Rhode River\, 22NM. We will anchor in Sheep’s Head\nBay\, near the Big Island. Depending on the weather conditions\, this day could be an option for the\nannual LROS MATCH RACE! If conditions are good\, we will pick a spot at the upper end of the\nEastern Bay to start\, sail down the Eastern Bay\, around Bloody Point\, and finish at the mouth of the\nRhode. Last night for dinner on your own. \nFRI 10/04 TO ROCK HALL – Depart the Rhode at 9 AM\, head NE under the Bay Bridge and continue\nto Rock Hall. 23 NM. Pick a slip\, mooring ball or anchorage. Dinner will be together at the Blue Heron. \nSAT 10/05 HOME – Depart Rock Hall at 9 AM\, head home. 22NM. \n\n \nYou must login to Register for this event. \n\n\n	\n \n Username or E-mail\n\n Password\n\n \n \n Only fill in if you are not human\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n	\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n Keep me signed in\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register \n \n\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n	\n \n Forgot your password? \n	\n\n \n	\n\n \nNot yet a member? SUMMARY:June Weeklong
DESCRIPTION:June Weeklong \nI hope you join us for the trip to the great North. We are trying something\, rarely done with NC3. We are heading north. Don’t worry\, we have studied and verified that the world is round and that you will not fall off the edge of the planet\, if you sail beyond the Northern boundaries of the Chesapeake Bay. Not only that you can actually swim off your boat without being stung by sea nettles by heading north. \nOnce in Delaware City we will take a day and head over to Fort Delaware. Situated on Pea Patch Island in the middle of the Delaware River\, Fort Delaware was initially constructed in the mid-1800s to protect Wilmington and Philadelphia from enemy attack. Fort Delaware served that role through WWI. The fort was among the most state-of-the-art in the nation when it was completed and housed prisoners of war during the Civil War due to its relative isolation. Within the walls of Fort Delaware\, visitors can also see Battery Torbert. Along the Prison Camp Trail lies the entrance to the mine casemate that controlled the mines that were deployed in the river in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The Pea Patch Heronry is one of the largest mixed species nest colony for herons\, egrets\, and ibis in the eastern United States. Other nesters that can be found on the island include osprey and bald eagles. Paranormal tours are offered in the fall and living history interpretation is offered year-round. \nSign up early as there may be a limit on how many boats we can take on this trip. \nFriday 28th – Bohemian Veazy cove anchor out.\nSaturday 29th — Veazy cove to Delaware City Marina\nSunday 30th — Delaware City (Delaware down day\, tour Fort Delaware )\nMonday 1st — Delaware City to Chesapeake Inn.\nTuesday 2nd — Chesapeake Inn to Sailing Associates\nWednesday 3rd — Sailing Associates down day\nThursday 4th — Sailing Associates to Worton creek\nFriday 5th — Worton Creek to Home\nSaturday 6th — Fireworks at home middle river \n\n \nYou must login to Register for this event. \n\n\n	\n \n Username or E-mail\n\n Password\n\n \n \n Only fill in if you are not human\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n	\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n Keep me signed in\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register \n \n\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n	\n \n Forgot your password? \n	\n\n \n	\n\n \nNot yet a member?
